Monday to Friday: £39,000 per annum moving to £43,000 once the security pass is obtained
4 days on / 4 days off: £45,000 per annum- Hours: 10-hour shifts, 07:00–17:00 (rotating shift pattern)
HGV Mechanic / HGV Technician The Role
We are seeking an experienced HGV Mechanic to join our client at Birmingham Airport. You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of Ground Support Equipment (GSE), ensuring safe and efficient airside operations.
This role offers a rare opportunity to work on specialist airport equipment within a structured, safety-critical environment.
HGV Mechanic / HGV Technician Key Responsibilities
Diagnose, fault-find, and repair HGVs, plant, and GSE vehicles
Carry out routine servicing and preventative planned maintenance (PPM)
Complete inspections, brake and smoke tests, and defect reporting
Accurately complete job cards, inspection sheets, and daily time sheets
Communicate all faults, required parts, and VOR items to the Workshop Supervisor
Present job cards to stores for parts issue
Ensure all parts are recorded, labelled, and stored correctly
Maintain strict adherence to health & safety regulations
Quarantine and report defective tools and equipment immediately
HGV Mechanic / HGV Technician Candidate Requirements
City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (essential)
Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in HGV, plant, or GSE maintenance
Strong diagnostic and repair capability
GSE experience is advantageous but not essential
HGV licence desirable
Able to work accurately in a regulated airport environment
