Teaching Personnel are urgently seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant with a strong PRU background to join one of our partner schools. This role is perfect for someone who has already worked in a Pupil Referral Unit or similar setting, and who understands the challenges and rewards of working with pupils who display SEMH, behavioural difficulties, and additional learning needs.
About the Role:
* Support pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis within a PRU setting.
* De-escalate challenging situations and use proven behaviour management strategies to keep pupils safe and focused.
* Act as a positive role model for pupils, building trust and strong relationships.
* Assist teachers in planning and delivering tailored activities that engage and motivate learners who may not thrive in mainstream education.
* Provide emotional support and guidance to help pupils regulate their emotions and re-engage with learning.
Who We’re Looking For:

* Proven experience in a PRU base or alternative provision setting.
* Confidence and resilience to handle difficult situations calmly and effectively.
* A strong personality, but with empathy and patience to connect with pupils.
* The ability to set firm boundaries while still creating a safe, supportive space for learning.
* A natural ability to stay calm, think fast, and make the right decisions under pressure.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
