Electrical designs for ships and submarines, so Marine Environment experience and AUTOCAD 2D skills are required.
As an EC&I Designer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will support the team in providing their design capability, focusing on the provision of new or modified electrical systems on Naval Platforms.
Day-to-day, you will be involved in design projects, applying your process, domain knowledge, and experience to develop and produce a range of design outputs and deliverables within the discipline, across the entire Global Engineering Product Lifecycle (GEPL): Start-Up, Concept, Development, Production, Commissioning & Acceptance, In-Service, and Retirement. This includes designing solutions of varying complexity to the required standards, under limited technical supervision.
Key roles and responsibilities include:
At this level, an EC&I Designer can execute a range of design activities, including:
1. Review and interpret technical information and requirements.
2. Understand and create technical drawings, specifications, and reports.
3. Produce CAD models and engineering designs for parts, components, systems, and structures, in line with recognised standards and meeting time, cost, and quality requirements.
4. Develop innovative design solutions with robust engineering substantiation.
5. Undertake routine calculations relevant to the design specialization.
6. Use appropriate tools and techniques, including engineering judgment, to make informed design decisions.
7. Provide solutions to manufacturing and installation issues by assisting in resolving technical and production queries.
8. Liaise with design and engineering colleagues and other stakeholders across the GEPL to ensure coordination and functionality of design.
9. Interface with customers and supply chain regarding design issues and assist with procurement specifications.
10. Apply configuration management and change control processes to design outputs and legacy technical information.
11. Prepare, produce, and maintain project technical information as required by the GEPL.
