Senior Engineer (Rock Engineering) – COWI
Location: Glasgow, London, Bristol, Dublin, Derby or York

Do you have a passion for complex rock engineering projects and the skills to lead their delivery? The Ground Engineering team at COWI is looking for a Senior Engineer to oversee the production and delivery of calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports in line with project programmes. Experienced engineers and geologists wishing to step into a senior role are also encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
* Check and assess a wide range of new and existing rock engineering and engineering geological projects.
* Take a leading role on the delivery of projects in your field, supporting risk management through inter‑disciplinary reviews.
* Oversee the production and delivery of geotechnical calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports in line with the project programme.
* Check and review reports and calculations.
* Work collaboratively with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design solution.
* Ensure quality, safety, and environmental requirements are met through our Integrated Management System.
* Participate in the resolution of technical issues.
Key Skills and Qualifications
* Chartered (CGeol, CEng or equivalent).
* Experience in a design environment working on complex rock engineering and engineering geological projects in the UK or internationally.
* Experience working in a design environment (site experience is preferred).
* Working knowledge of rock engineering software (e.g. RS2, RS3, UDEC, 3DEC).
* Experience in planning, supervising and designing elements of a project, applying current standards and technical best practice.
* Well‑rounded geotechnical design experience.
* Effective oral and written communication with people at all levels, across the project organisation and externally, with demonstrated ability to prepare project reports.
* Full UK driving licence.
