American Humane Society currently accepts applications for our Certified Animal Safety Representatives (CASR) on a rolling basis for all geographic locations. We will keep your application on file and contact you if an opening becomes available in your area.
We are recruiting on a rolling basis for upcoming training classes, prioritizing candidates in/around specific locations: Los Angeles, CA; Wilmington, NC; Austin, TX; London, England; Alberta, Canada; Vancouver, BC, Canada. Our No Animals Were Harmed program offers multiple on-call opportunities with training. Candidates should have a DVM, RVT/LVT/CVT license, or a B.S. in Animal Science or a related field.

Job Summary:
Represent the No Animals Were Harmed program on film and media sets, ensuring humane treatment of animal performers, documenting housing and care, and advising on animal safety and welfare guidelines.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Monitoring Animal Action: Oversee humane treatment during filming, educate personnel, and ensure animal safety.
2. Report Writing: Prepare detailed reports on animal action, safety measures, and treatment, supporting certification and accountability.
3. Communication and Diplomacy: Interact effectively with production staff, trainers, veterinarians, and authorities, acting as liaison when needed.
4. Work Location and Travel: Work in various locations, including outdoor and indoor sets, with potential for short-notice travel domestically and internationally.
5. Research and Preparation: Gather species-specific information, coordinate with the scheduling department, and ensure compliance with safety protocols, especially for dangerous animal actions.
Qualifications:
Must have one or more of the following: DVM, RVT/LVT/CVT license, or a B.S. in Animal Science or related field. Experience with diverse animals and a commitment to animal welfare are preferred. Strong communication, diplomacy, organizational skills, and computer proficiency are required. Completion of the AH Society CASR training course is mandatory.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Work involves outdoor and indoor filming environments, often in extreme weather, requiring physical activity such as walking, climbing, and lifting. A valid driver’s license and transportation are necessary. Travel may be required on short notice, with long working hours typical.
