The Operations and Contracting Procurement Senior Advisor in the North Sea business is responsible for the management of the maintenance, shutdowns (TARS) and inspection categories in support of the Production organization, driving the execution end-to-end category management process to handle supply chain risk and enhance value delivery.
Job Synopsis:
The Operations Contracting and Procurement Senior Advisor is responsible for the management of the portfolio of maintenance, shutdowns (TARS) and inspection activity for the North Sea business and the procurement single point of accountability for shutdowns.
They undertake category management and supplier management, driving end-to-end spend management to handle supply chain risk and improve value delivery, including sustainability, within their category.
They know their categories intimately and support development of innovative approaches which deliver business objectives, and strong category guidance which ensures efficient end to end category execution. They work with regional and FBT (Finance Business and Technology) team resources for efficient, compliant, and competitive procurement outcomes.
Problem solvers, who build solutions to category challenges, they cultivate senior partner relationships and work with businesses to understand their evolving needs alongside deep insights into supply markets, disruptors and technological advances. They build value through orchestrating development of transformational strategies in support of bp’s strategy, collaborating cross-functionally to realize identified value and working with delivery teams to ensure that their global strategies are implemented locally.
Perform demand planning, working with S&C for sourcing and leading supplier management as appropriate.
They will be a key point of contact for all TAR activities, working closely with the business to ensure all procurement activities are delivered seamlessly and cost efficient.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
* Embedded in the shutdown team, the successful candidate will be the procurement focal point for turnarounds, managing the turnaround procurement plan and ensuring that all materials are delivered to site to meet the turnaround schedule.
* Asset focal point: the successful candidate will be assigned a bp asset as the procurement focal point.
* Responsible for managing a suite of maintenance and operations contracts, writing amendments to keep the contracts accurate and up to date and ensuring all procurement process requirements are met.
* Supplier management is a key requirement, leading performance reviews, working closely with the technical team to monitor performance and making proactive interventions where needed to maximise value and efficiency.
* Creating contracting strategies and innovative commercial models, looking beyond traditional pricing structures to derive value.
* Undertaking tendering activities including sourcing and contract negotiations
* Communicates impactfully with partners, respectfully challenging to achieve the right outcomes or decisions, resolving conflict and focusing on priorities.
Job Functional Knowledge:
Procurement, contracting and supplier management expertise: should have a solid understanding of category management principles including supplier management, procurement processes, and strategy development.
North Sea oil and gas specific knowledge and deep understanding of the MTI supply market landscape in the region is a must.

Leadership:
The nature of leadership in this role is as a Subject Matter Expert in the relevant category, sharing that knowledge with the wider team and leading execution of the strategy, focusing on creating and implementing category strategies in the region and collaborating with the team to achieve goals. Provide deep region specific and operational input into major contracts being negotiated by Category team.
In addition, analyzing data-driven trends & insights, and employing Agile/flexible approaches is highly beneficial.

The role requires analytical thinking to develop and evaluate solutions, as well as judgement to translate business requirements into actionable plans. Ability to embrace industry challenges and technological disruption, pioneer innovative solutions and foster strong supplier relationships, bringing multiple parties together to collaboratively address sophisticated business problems is also required.

The Operations Contracting and Procurement Senior Advisor directly impacts the financial plans of the supported organisations and overall value delivery of Finance – procurement, ensuring a safe, sustainable and competitive supply chain.

Essential Education
University degree or equivalent experience in Procurement, Business, Law, or Engineering
Essential Experience
* Strong experience in a contracting and procurement role with end to end Procurement and supply chain management, or including tendering and contract creation and contract negotiation.
* Understanding of the complexities of Production & Operation business with experience working in North Sea oil and gas
* Demonstrable supplier management skills with examples of delivering value, proactive supplier oversight and innovative solutions
* Solid understanding of category management principles, procurement processes & systems, and contract management fundamentals, and standard processes
* Understanding of cost drivers in MTI contracts, an ability to demonstrate transparency and drive value through effective collaboration with the technical teams CAMs and suppliers.
* Commercial bias and analytical skills, driving strategic as well as operational solutions
Proven track record of strong influencing skills, being able to drive business delivery and value focused outcomes
Capable of working in an agile way and working successfully as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Preferred Education
MCIPS or equivalent experience in procurement
Preferred Experience
* Previous experience in a North Sea operations and maintenance procurement and contracting role is preferred.
