The successful candidate will undertake decontamination duties and assist under supervision of the Decontamination Supervisor in providing a specialised decontamination service for Endoscope medical devices, contributing to patient care. Responsibilities include collection, receipt, cleaning, disinfection, packing, and delivery of reusable Endoscopes, and maintaining records in the Healthcare Science Information Systems (tracking and tracing) database.
Applicants should possess good literacy and numeracy skills, basic IT skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and in a team in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to learn and receive training to meet local and national decontamination standards is essential.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be part of the Endoscopy decontamination team, ensuring efficient and high-quality service for various departments including Theatre, Women’s Health, and the Staffordshire Treatment Suite. Duties include:
* Decontamination of endoscopes following strict protocols, including inspection, cleaning, leak testing, and tracking in the system.
* Operation of automated endoscope reprocessing equipment after training.
* Regular checks of water and machinery.
* Reporting concerns regarding cleanliness, hazards, or safety.
* Maintenance of endoscopic equipment in compliance with regulations.
* Stock monitoring and management.
* Adherence to infection control policies and COSHH regulations.
* Use of personal protective equipment and manual handling as per policies.
* Recognising personal limitations and seeking advice when necessary.

Education
* GCSE English and Maths Grade 4 or above, or equivalent functional skills.
