The role
Building Safety Surveyor
Location: Remote with regular travel across Yorkshire and surrounding areas
Salary: £43,735 plus £5,800 car allowance
Contract: 37.5 hours per week | Permanent
We’re looking for an experienced Building Safety Surveyor to join our Resident & Building Safety Team, leading critical fire safety and building safety programmes across a diverse housing portfolio.
This is more than a surveying role, it’s an opportunity to play a pivotal role in ensuring residents live in safe, compliant, and well maintained homes while helping shape the future of building safety in the social housing sector.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll take ownership of the end to end delivery of major fire safety improvement programmes, managing projects from initial scoping through to completion and handover.
Your portfolio will include:
Active Fire Protection
* Fire alarm replacement programmes (BS 5839)
* Emergency lighting upgrades (BS 5266)
* Firefighting equipment installation and improvements
Passive Fire Protection
* Fire door replacement programmes
* Fire stopping and compartmentation works
* Structural fire protection improvements

* Influencing best practice across building safety deliver
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a proactive and solutions focused professional who combines technical expertise with excellent stakeholder management skills.
* Building surveying experience with a strong fire safety focus.
* Delivery of FRA remediation and fire safety programmes.
* Strong knowledge of building safety, fire safety, health and safety legislation, including compliance requirements within the social housing sector.
* Comprehensive understanding of active and passive protection systems.
* Experience managing contractor performance.
* Planned works project management.
* Experience of working with operational teams, managing projects and communications, particularly in contexts involving leasehold schemes under or over Section 20 thresholds.
Qualifications:
* NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent safety qualification
* Fire Door Inspection Scheme (FDIS)
* Fire Stopping Inspection Course (ISI) or equivalent
* Knowledge of CDM regulations 2015
* Full UK Driving Licence
