We are looking for a trustee to develop our volunteering strategy as we create a green and blue corridor through the restoration of two Staffordshire canals, benefiting our local and wider community.
What difference will you make?
The Volunteer Resources Trustee plays a key role in our future success, with overall responsibility for managing volunteers. This includes developing strategies, plans, handling regulatory matters, training, safeguarding, maintaining records, and practical activities such as inductions. The Trustee also advises the Board on volunteer-related issues and supports effective Board functioning.
What are we looking for?
We seek someone with volunteer management experience or a background in human resources to enhance our volunteering strategy. Essential skills include an understanding of volunteering issues, volunteer needs, and the ability to guide and advise the Board. Good communication, interpersonal, and ICT skills are required. Knowledge of volunteer management, health and safety, and equality and diversity issues is essential. Attributes include integrity, self-motivation, enthusiasm, flexibility, organization, and credibility.
What will you be doing?
Our organisation is highly active in canal restoration, with successful projects overcoming major obstacles like the M6 Toll Road construction. We have a large, engaged membership and work regularly on restoration activities, including working with young people through partnerships with colleges and contractors. Our initiatives include providing practical skills training, environmental activities, and youth engagement programs, recognized nationally with The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service in 2019.
