Job Title : Senior Underwriter Location : Any office - Fleet / Manchester / Cardiff Job Purpose We are seeking a Mortgage Underwriter to join our Underwriting Team in any of our 3 offices - Fleet, Manchester or Cardiff. This role will be responsible for providing a professional, efficient and high standard of customer service to customers, intermediaries, valuers and solicitors. Your day will be spent accurately analysing and understanding key elements of all mortgage applications at every level of the process through to offer, whilst ensuring adherence to all Fleet Mortgages policies and procedures. You will also be supporting the Team Leaders, acting as a deputy when they are away from the team, as well as creating and delivering team training and coaching, where required. This is a varied role and requires good decision-making and communication skills whilst also needing individuals with an excellent eye for detail. Some of your day to day will include: Working with agreed objectives, service standards and deliverables. Ensuring relevant documentation and information received is checked for adherence to policy and criteria. Responsibility for approving offers for cases over tier one mandate level up to tier two. Dealing with queries and enquiries effectively, accurately, and professionally, delivering excellent customer service. Providing prompt replies to all written correspondence. Train and mentor new and existing team members. Design and deliver training for all team members on new processes. Making suggestions for improvements to processes to enhance service and efficiency. To be successful you will need: Previous experience within the mortgage industry working within a similar role (essential). Currently holding a mortgage lending mandate (essential). Strong decision-making skills. Proven experience of mentoring/coaching new team members. Proven ability to exercise good commercial and professional judgment. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. CeMAP preferred or a willingness to study.
