Overview
The Group Fitness Manager (GFM) is responsible for the successful operation of the Group Fitness Department. The GFM is accountable for hiring, training, managing, and overseeing the group fitness staff to ensure members receive high‑quality group fitness training. The GFM also performs duties related to Social Media and Website.
Responsibilities
* Ensure class attendance goals are achieved on a monthly basis.
* Ensure Instructor staff performs all duties at an excellent level.
* Manage and motivate the Instructor staff (including hiring, firing, performance management, and recognition).
* Serve as the lead customer service contact for members in the group fitness area, including answering questions, welcoming members, group fitness orientations, and other member communications.
* Act as a liaison between the group fitness area and other departments, communicating relevant information to the Instructor staff as needed.
* Establish, monitor, and analyze the group fitness budget and stay within budget.
* Develop and implement group fitness policies and procedures.
* Develop and manage new and existing youth programs.
* Coordinate quarterly launches for Les Mills formats.
* Coordinate individual orientations to welcome new members.
* Order supplies needed for the group fitness department.
* Review day‑to‑day statistics on class attendance compared to monthly goals.
* Meet with Instructors annually and Program Leads quarterly to review current month’s revenue, monthly goals, and previous revenue and goals.
* Focus on revenue and improving customer service through continued training and accountability on a day‑to‑day basis.
* Oversee promotional events to increase revenue.
* Develop and maintain staff training manual.
* Ensure sanitation and tidiness of all group fitness studios through proper staff training and cleaning.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
* Maintain a positive and professional attitude towards job responsibilities, fellow employees, and members.
* Promote GGX using human and electronic resources.
* Create, manage, and grow business presence across social media channels (blogs, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram).
* Implement a proactive strategy for capturing customer online reviews and monitor online ratings, responding accordingly.
* Monitor trends in social media tools, applications, channels, design, and strategy.
* Identify threats and opportunities in user‑generated content; report to appropriate management. Monitor business reputation in social media and website communities.
Qualifications
* CPR/AED certification is required.
* Experience in developing group fitness freestyle classes.
* AFAA or ACE Group Fitness Certification or willingness to obtain.
* College degree is preferred.
