This is a great opportunity for you to join Broxbourne Borough Council’s Homelessness Solutions Team at either a trainee or officer level position. We pride ourselves on being an innovative and ambitious team. In this role you will work alongside dedicated experienced colleagues, interviewing, and assessing those who are at a risk of being homeless. You will be managing a case load of clients, working collaboratively with colleagues and other agencies to provide solutions. This is a varied, rewarding and challenging role.
If you want to apply to be part of our team, you should ideally have previous experience working within a Local Authority homelessness setting and knowledge of the relevant legislation, although transferable skills would be considered. You should also be highly motivated, with a genuine interest in helping people. Previous experience working in a customer facing role is essential, as are excellent written and verbal communication and a GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths. Fluent spoken English skills are also essential, as this role requires having sensitive conversations with clients and dealing with their expectations effectively. Good written and analytical skills are equally important, therefore a GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Math’s is fundamental. A full driving license is also required.
We have adopted the core values of Teamwork, Innovation, Effectiveness and Respect (TIER).
The values and their underlying behaviours, demonstrate our commitment to providing excellent customer care, working in a joined up way, showing respect at all times and looking at innovation and forward thinking solutions. We pride ourselves on recruiting, developing and retaining talent who share this commitment.
We are committed to safer recruitment, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
The Council’s benefits package includes generous leave entitlement, Employee Assistance Programme, benefits platform, full training and development programme, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and free membership to the Council’s local leisure centres, which includes free access to gyms, swimming pools, fitness classes, racket sport sessions, a health suite and a range of generous discounts across other leisure and culture services.
