Hertfordshire Public Health team is recruiting to a new 12-month fixed term Strategic Lead post funded through aSupplementary Substance MisuseTreatment and Recovery Grant. This is an exciting opportunity to take up a senior public health position, to develop and lead a complex and growing area of work.
Reporting to the Consultant in Public Health within the Adult Health Improvement Team and working with the Hertfordshire Mental Health, Learning Disability and Autism Health and Care Partnership you will oversee the strategic development of a substance misuse and co-occurring mental health problems workstream.
Main duties of the job
Your knowledge of prevention, mental health and/or substance misuse treatment and support across local authority, NHS and the voluntary sector will help you to deliver evidence-driven improvements to our system. You will help shape system-wide policy, influence decision making for shared priorities and align prevention and clinical pathways to improve the quality of the system, meet areas of demand and better support people who have mental health and substance misuse issues.
You will be expected to provide high quality leadership and deliver multiple projects across the programme, working closely with strategic leaders, senior managers, clinical leads and operational staff. This will include establishing partnerships and networks with internal and external stakeholders (Mental Health and Drug and Alcohol providers, NHS and local government partners and voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise sectors) and navigating the political environment across Hertfordshire.
