Job Title: Student Advice and Safeguarding Officer Salary: £29,770-£31,732 Duration: Permanent Hours: 37 hours per week *Must be prepared to work flexibly including some evening and weekend work as required Location: Cambridge (potential travelling to other locations within and outskirts of city) Role Purpose: To beanintegralpartoftheStudentServicesteam,providingahighqualityandresponsivestudent advice and safeguarding service for students in accordance with statutory responsibilities. An enhanced DBS will be completed prior to starting this role Key Duties: Act as a first point of contact providing a confidential and professional information and advice service for all students on concerns in relation to their safety and physical, personal, and mental wellbeing, including child protection disclosures Manage a case load of students, prioritising cases where necessary, providing appropriate advice, guidance, information andsupportin ordertohelpaddressissues ordifficulties Produce risk assessments and support plans to focusing on the safety and wellbeing of students Attendmultiagencymeetingsincludingcoregroup,ChildinNeedsandstrategymeetingsandchild protectionconferences Deliver sessionsand activities Toattendandsupporteventssuchasopenevents To maintain and develop own knowledge, skills and experience through training, staff developmentactivitiesandnetworking Provide an advisory service for staff in dealing with student safeguarding concerns Ensure that data protection and client confidentiality requirements are met Key Skills/Experience Required: Evidence of relevant CPD and traininginsubjectsrelevantto therole A recognised professional qualification equivalent to at least NVQ Level 4 in social work, youth work, community work, advice and guidance youthoffending Proven experience working withyoungpeopletomotivate and inspire them to achieve and/or successfully overcome barriers to success Excellent customer service skills and a genuine interest in working with and helping customers Previousvocational experience of working with youngpeopleinoneormore of the following settings: Educationand Training, Social Care, Youth Work, Residentialor Housing, Social Work, Probation Services, Mental Health services Good level of education, including GCSE in English and Maths (or equivalent level) Ability to remain calm under pressure and deal with problems calmly and constructively High level of integrity and professionalism For more information or to apply please send your CV or contact Morgan Parkes Recruitment.
