POSITION: Occupational Physician

LOCATION: Hybrid working with weekly onsite work in Liverpool and Wolverhampton and travel to locations in the Northwest. Occasional travel to JLR sites in Solihull, Gaydon and Coventry. Minimal overseas travel. Full and part time (4 days/week) will be considered.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Acting as a key member of the Safety, Health and Wellbeing (SHW) team, you will be responsible for providing advice and leadership to professional customer groups within the business. This role allows you to impact the health, safety and well‑being of employees, contractors, supply chain and the wider community, offering opportunities for leadership development.
You will provide proactive advice and guidance on all topics related to health, including wellbeing, sickness absence case management, health surveillance, travel, and health‑related safety advice to customers in the business.
We support all areas of the business including manufacturing, events, engineering and Jaguar TCS Racing.
THE ROLE
Key Responsibilities
* Act as one of the clinical leads for the SHW chapter, providing leadership and strategic direction to the OH teams as part of the SHW Management team.
* Contribute to and ensure implementation of our global Health & Wellbeing strategies to meet current and future business needs.
* Carry out clinical responsibilities including: OH business process improvement, complex medical case management (e.g., fitness for task), health surveillance escalations, preparation of medical information packs for the Pension Scheme, medical adviser in ill‑health early retirement applications, and communication with individuals own doctors and specialists.
* Conduct face‑to‑face and telephone consultations; visit workplaces to assess activities and advise on fitness for work or work‑related issues.
* Participate in case conferences with managers and the People team to agree on the most appropriate courses of action.
* Provide high‑level support to a team of OH Advisors and external OH physicians, offering guidance on specific complex cases.
* Offer support to safety and wellbeing colleagues on clinical topics and assist in complaint case resolution.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience
* Excellent communication skills – spoken and written.
* Commercially and strategically astute; experienced in a business environment.
* Ability to negotiate and influence at a senior level.
* Working knowledge of key HR practices such as absence management, capability.
* Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
* IT competence in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access.
* Ability to maintain accurate, confidential medical records in line with GMC principles of Good Medical Practice.
Experience
* Good working knowledge of UK equality, health and safety laws.
* Good working knowledge of UK employment law.
* Experience within a manufacturing environment.
* Experience within a unionised environment.
* Experience of data management and interpretation.
Qualifications
* Medical Degree qualified.
* Diploma in Occupational Medicine (Dip Occ Med) or AFOM.
* MFOM/FFOM.
* Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC); up‑to‑date with GMC revalidation.
* A full driving licence.
