Here at 1st Step Solutions, we are supporting an established Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) contractor who are currently recruiting a Logistics/Stores Person to support with the movement and control of materials, tools, and equipment on a key project based in West Suffolk (IP27).
The business has been established for over 75 years, employing over 100 staff and turning over £40m per year, delivering projects nationally for Tier 1 Contractors.
The Logistics/Stores Person would be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of the stores and warehouse, ensuring materials and tools are received, checked, stored, and delivered efficiently. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with experience in construction or M&E logistics who is dependable, proactive, and safety conscious.
Responsibilities
Receive, unload, and check deliveries of M&E materials and equipment
Organise and store items safely and efficiently in the warehouse
Prepare and deliver materials to project sites in line with schedule requirements
Assist with stock control and inventory checks
Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised stores environment
Record material movements using stock systems or manual logs
Conduct basic checks on tools and equipment (e.g. visual inspections, PAT tag checks)
Assist with tool and plant tracking and ensure timely returns from site
Communicate with site teams and suppliers to support smooth operations
Follow health & safety procedures at all times during manual handling and vehicle useRequirements
Previous experience in a stores, warehouse, or logistics role, ideally in the construction or M&E sector
Basic knowledge of M&E materials and tools
Good organisational skills and attention to detail
Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling tasks
Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team
Familiarity with stock control systems
Full UK Driving Licence
