LOCATION: Southampton.
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £24,300 - £38,900 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE The Operations Team in Southampton provides technical services to our daily regional news output including, South Today, as well as the local Politics South programme.
We are looking for a Technical Operator to join our multi-skilled team.
Multi-skilling is critical to the smooth running of the Operations department in Southampton. Our Technical Operators are responsible for programme timings and carry out production admin. You may also be required to fulfil other operational roles such as editing.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
Production Assistant / News Transmission Assistant / Journalism Co-ordinator duties including programme timings, music clearance etc to ensure the live broadcasts keep to time and that admin documentation in relation to the broadcasts are complete.
Media hub to support the processing of media coming in and out of the Southampton base
Video editing of packages for TV and online broadcasting. The systems we use may change during this contract.
Gallery technical managing including communications, lighting, cameras and sound.
Live news Directing ensuring the smooth transmission of some of our bulletins such as during BBC Breakfast
Studio Cameras, operating them either in the studio or remotely from the TV gallery.
Floor Managing, ensuring the safety of guests and staff in the studio and supporting presenters and camera operators.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
Experience of working in live TV news galleries
Strong numerical literacy
Good communicator and Self-motivated
The ability to work alone or as part of a larger team
Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of software
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
Experience of timing live news broadcasts
Experience of working in live TV news with an automated gallery
Experience of Quantel server editing and broadcast systems
Knowledge of OpenMedia
