An ambitious city is seeking a confident, experienced Building Control Team Leader / Principal Inspector to lead on complex cases, mentor colleagues, and help deliver safe, high-quality development across a rapidly growing urban environment. The Role
Sitting just beneath the Building Control Manager, this is a pivotal leadership role that blends senior technical oversight with hands-on team support.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading on complex and high-risk Building Control cases
* Acting as the senior technical reference for a team of inspectors
* Mentoring, guiding, and supporting team development
* Working collaboratively with developers, architects, and internal stakeholders
* Driving high standards of safety, compliance, and service
* Supporting the evolution of team practices, standards, and strategic direction
The Ideal Candidate
Applicants must be a Registered Building Inspector (RBI) at Class 2D or above, with:
* Significant experience in Building Control and technical compliance
* Strong mentoring skills and a collaborative leadership style
* Excellent judgement and problem-solving abilities
* Confidence in stakeholder engagement and cross-functional working
* A calm, positive, solutions-focused mindset
* Commitment to high professional standards and service quality
The Offer
Salary: £55,000-£60,000 per annum, with potential for additional payments based on experience and market conditions.
