Summary
1. Work within specified research grants and projects and contribute to writing papers and final reports
2. Operate within area of specialism (Rheumatology)
3. Collect data at a clinical level across NHS settings within West Midlands
4. With the help of a statistician, analyse and interpret research findings, results and dissemination not just within academy but also within the public and patient community
Main Duties
The responsibilities may include some but not all of the responsibilities outlined below.
5. Collect research data; this may be through a variety of research methods, such as quantitative and qualitative – work with NHS staff effectively to collect data
6. Analyse research data as directed
7. Present research outputs, for example at conferences, seminars, community talks and as posters
8. Deal with problems that may affect the achievement of research objectives and deadlines. This might include working with CRN networks to ensure recruitment target is met
9. Carry out administrative tasks related directly to the delivery of the research
10. Promotes equality and values diversity acting as a role model and fostering an inclusive working culture
11. Assist in writing papers for high impact journals
12. Assist in writing final reports to the funder – NIHR and REC / HRA committees
13. Contribute to writing bids for research funding
14. Analyse and interpret data
15. Apply knowledge in a way which develops new intellectual understanding
16. Disseminate research findings for publication, research seminars etc
17. Supervise students on research related work and provide guidance to PhD students where appropriate to the discipline
18. Contribute to developing new models, techniques and methods
19. Undertake management/administration arising from research
20. Contribute to Departmental/School research-related activities and research-related administration
21. Contribute to enterprise, business development and/or public engagement activities of manifest benefit to the College and the University, often under supervision of a project leader

Person Specification
27. Degree or equivalent in relevant subject area
28. Practical experience of applying the relevant skills and techniques
29. Ability to analyse information and communicate effectively
30. Ability to access and organise resources successfully
31. Knowledge of the protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010, and how to actively ensure in day to day activity in own area that those with protected characteristics are treated equally and fairly
32. Experience of working in hospitals
33. Ability to speak languages such as Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu since the project will involve working with South Asian people
34. Ability to assess resource requirements and use resources effectively
35. Contribute to the planning and organising of the research programme and/or research project
36. Co-ordinate own work with others to avoid conflict or duplication of effort
