Role Purpose:
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Electrical Field Engineer to support the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) of Electric Vehicle (EV) charge point infrastructure. The role involves on‑site diagnostics, fault resolution, preventative maintenance, and commissioning support across a network of EV charging stations.
You will play a key role in ensuring high uptime, safety compliance, and optimal performance of charging assets, contributing directly to the reliability of public and private EV charging networks.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on EV charge point infrastructure
* Diagnose and repair electrical and communication faults on AC and DC fast chargers
* Support installation verification, commissioning, and handover of new EV charging sites
* Conduct electrical testing and inspection in line with relevant standards (e.g., BS 7671)
* Troubleshoot issues across power systems, control systems, and network communications
* Liaise with remote support teams and manufacturers to resolve complex technical issues
* Maintain accurate service records, reports, and job documentation using mobile field systems
* Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
* Respond to emergency callouts and fault escalations within agreed SLAs
* Support continuous improvement of maintenance procedures and reliability of assets
Required Experience and qualifications
* Recognised electrical qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds Electrical Installation or equivalent)
* Proven experience in field‑based electrical maintenance or installation work
* Experience with DC fast chargers or high‑power electrical systems
* Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic skills on electrical systems
* Experience with EV charging infrastructure or similar power electronics systems (desirable)
* Understanding of low voltage distribution systems and control networks
* Full UK driving licence (or relevant local equivalent)
* Ability to work independently in a field‑based environment
