Neurodevelopmental Practitioner – Adult Autism Assessment Team, Cornwall
This part‑time role allows you to join a small, multi‑disciplinary team providing specialist autism assessments for adults in Cornwall. The post holder will work as part of a community and hospital‑based trust delivering high quality care and support to adults who are querying a diagnosis of autism.
Key Responsibilities
* Participate in the delivery of specialist autism assessments.
* Work with a wide range of professionals in multidisciplinary teams across agencies in a consultative, advisory, and collaborative capacity (e.g. other CFT services, Cornwall Council, RCHT).
* Teach and support SLT/Nursing students on placement.
* Advise the service lead or team manager on issues of service delivery relating to the specialist clinical area.
* Represent the autism assessment team appropriately at inter‑disciplinary or inter‑agency forums as required.
* Use very good interpersonal communication skills to listen to and counsel adults and their families, provide support and empathy, identify and resolve difficult situations, and manage conflict.
* Work collaboratively and initiate liaison over clinical matters with a wide range of professions from health, education, social, private, and voluntary agencies.
* Present and communicate diagnostic outcomes and clinical information in a manner that motivates, negotiates with, involves, and empowers service users, their families, and multidisciplinary colleagues.
