Role Overview
This role requires technical leadership, stakeholder engagement, and expertise in advanced BI technologies (including cloud technologies like Microsoft Fabric and Microsoft Purview) to advance UCL’s data modelling, governance, and analytics capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead end-to-end BI solution development, including data modelling, ETL, analytics, and reporting.
2. Serve as a technical expert in data modelling, data integration, and data governance to ensure high-quality data for decision-making.
3. Engage with senior stakeholders across UCL to understand reporting needs and deliver insights for strategic decisions.
4. Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior BI analysts and developers, promoting best practices in data governance, security, and compliance (GDPR, HESA, data protection).
About You
To be considered, candidates should possess a solid mix of skills and experience including:
* Proven experience in business intelligence, data analytics, and enterprise data solutions.
* Expertise in data modelling, ETL, data integration, and strong SQL skills (T-SQL, PL/SQL).
* Experience with Microsoft Fabric (Data Factory, Synapse, Lakehouse) and Microsoft Purview.
* Understanding of CRM data models (Salesforce, Dynamics) and enterprise data architectures.
* Hands-on experience with Power BI (DAX, Power Query) and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS).
* Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance frameworks.
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to influence at all levels.
* Experience leading BI projects, mentoring teams, and driving best practices.
* Experience with Azure Data Services (Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse).
* Familiarity with AI-driven analytics and predictive modeling.
* Understanding of higher education data management (HESA, Heidi Plus, student analytics).
* Exposure to Python, R, or machine learning frameworks for advanced analytics.
