Your role
This role is for a results‑driven strategic leader who will lead with vision, plan with purpose, and drive growth that inspires. The Business Planning Director turns bold ideas into reality.
The Business Planning and Performance directorate is responsible for leading the definition and management of the consortium's strategy and priorities, ensuring risk management, setting budgets, commercial plans and stakeholder relationships.
Responsibilities
- Set overarching direction for CPS and drive digital capability improvements to ensure successful delivery of contract hand‑back obligations.
- Guide the Performance Quality & Improvement team to achieve business objectives.
- Oversee the establishment of Enterprise Risk Management to assure business continuity.
- Keep Customer and Business Strategies relevant to evolving demands.
- Prioritise client management and relationships, extracting maximum value and alignment with Parent Companies.
- Lead BP&P team to drive high performance and continuous improvement across the business aligned to strategy and plans.
- In SLT role, responsible for financial performance of BP&P team and approve budget setting for CPS.
- Hold teams under BP&P accountable on business objectives.
- Build relationships with leaders in Connect Plus, National Highways, Parent Companies and JV partners.
- Develop and review CPS business plans, risk reporting and performance trend analysis.
- Lead change capability and support delivery of major change programmes.
- Deliver data and digital capability for CPS and develop business performance management.
- Manage all stakeholder and customer relationships, including NH, CP and road users.
- Prepare strategy and annual plan; manage handback and contractual obligations.
- Ensure Enterprise Risk is communicated to executive level.
- Hold business leaders accountable, monitor performance and risk.
- Build strong working relationships with senior managers across teams.
- Demonstrate safety and wellbeing standards and inspire the team.
About You
- A relevant professional qualification; ideally Chartered/Incorporated status with a recognised UK institution.
- Demonstrable effective leadership skills to inspire teams, foster collaboration and drive innovation.
- Proven competencies in setting successful and aligned business strategies in a dynamic environment.
- Capability to deliver digital change leadership and Digital Information techniques in an infrastructure asset management environment.
- Proven experience delivering effective risk‑based decision strategies.
- Strong stakeholder relationship building skills.
- Excellent communication skills to translate vision, strategies and goals across all levels.
- Champion curiosity and continuous improvement, modeling change and risk management.
- Positive, energetic, project‑focused attitude and commitment to CPS leadership behaviours.
