We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our clients team based out of their site in the Milton Keynes area Our client is a leading is proud of the fact they have now been trading and delivering quality solutions for over 100 years. What you'll be doing: You'll be reporting directly to the Managing Director and will be responsible for all aspects of the operations, managing small teams throughout the business. Key Duties: Design and development of the mechanical aspects of enclosures, cabinets and consoles with particular emphasis on ruggedisation for harsh environments through the whole lifecycle (requirements, development, drawings, calculations, specifications, and reports). Take ownership of the mechanical aspects of projects and provide technical support to the project manager and customer. Develop and maintain mechanical drawings, parts lists, layouts and manufacturing data. Develop a culture and team expertise in DFMA. Adhere to the design control activities within the company quality management system. Assist with the production of ILS information, including manuals, maintenance procedures, spares provisioning and training materials. Reviewing legacy equipment in respect of current standards, obsolescence, and design. Providing the Design Authority role within the Company and providing technical help and assistance to more junior engineers and other staff. Key Skills and Experience: Broadly experienced mechanical engineer with experience in design and development of enclosures and cabinets an advantage. Must have an excellent understand of sheet metal fabrication and manufacturing techniques. Ability to produce detailed design from a customer specification applying appropriate standards and regulations, selection of materials, manufacturing techniques and components. Competent in the use of Inventor 3D and AutoCAD Experience in NASTRAN and other analysis tools, FEA, CFD etc. Competent in design to critical standard Qualified to degree level or equivalent. A minimum of 10 years demonstrable mechanical design experience. A background in the naval, marine or defence sectors would be an advantage. Effective written and verbal communicator; able to produce high quality technical documents and reports sometimes for inclusion in tender responses and submissions to customers. Excellent communicator at all levels. Able to achieve SC security clearance. Hours: Monday - Friday - 9AM - 5PM - Flexible for the right person.
