PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Newsbeat is an industry-leading multi-platform team, producing creative, original and impactful journalism for 15-24 year olds - across BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Asian Network, BBC News Online and Social. We are looking for an experienced and motivated journalist with a range of writing, video and social media skills to help lead our digital output.
You will work as part of a team of senior journalists driving editorial ambitions and innovation - ensuring we are adapting to and serving the changing needs of our diverse and underserved audiences.

Senior journalists also have the opportunity to work on a wide range of original stories across our output, including on-air reporting.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
* You will be responsible for writing, commissioning, editing and publishing content - including stories and video for the BBC News website and social platforms - underpinned by sound editorial judgement, and an excellent understanding of young and diverse audiences.
* You will use analytics and data to drive our journalism.
* You will liaise with other BBC News departments to collaborate and champion our content and audiences.
* You will develop and motivate journalists and reporters in a fast-paced national newsroom.
* You will be full of boundary-pushing ideas for stories and formats.
* You will be passionate about engaging 15-24s with national and global news.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
* Writing and subbing text stories, with sound editorial judgement and understanding of media law.
* Experience of working in a fast-paced national newsroom.
* Comprehensive understanding of modern digital trends, formats, platforms and analytics.
* Excellent knowledge of national and global news and current affairs, including politics, sport and entertainment.
* Leadership and communication skills, with experience of developing junior colleagues and liaising with stakeholders.
DESIRABLE
* Video production/editing.
* Experience of multi-platform reporting, including audio and video.
