HR Generalist / Manager – 6‑Month Fixed Term Contract
Marsh McLennan is seeking a talented individual to join our Human Resources team in London. This hybrid role requires working at least three days a week in the office.
What can you expect?
* An exciting opportunity to join the Marsh McLennan UK HR Regional Advisor team as a HR Generalist/Manager.
* This role will provide advice, support and coaching to People Managers aiming to develop and enhance the quality of people management throughout the colleague lifecycle.
* The role of the HR Generalist/Manager therefore has a direct and positive impact on the quality of the colleague experience across Marsh & McLennan. Under the guidance of the Lead HR Manager, you will be aligned to a specific group of People Managers who are likely to come from businesses and functions across Marsh & McLennan.
* Our aim is to provide consistent high‑quality support for People Managers regardless of the business or function.
* You may support People Managers in one or multiple countries and will work with other HR Generalist/Managers to exercise flexibility in resource to accommodate flexibility in demand.
* You will provide day‑to‑day advice across all aspects of the colleague lifecycle and will also be key to the deployment and adoption of new processes or initiatives which are aimed at People Managers.
* You will need to understand and reflect the local market perspective whilst respecting the value of enterprise‑wide alignment where appropriate.
* You will also provide valuable insights to the Centers of Expertise which will inform the development and prioritisation of initiatives, programmes and projects designed for colleagues and/or People.
We will count on you to:
* Provide guidance and support to People Managers at most levels of the business / countries supported across the full range of activities in the HR portfolio, including: performance management (implementing colleague training/mentoring programs), communications, change management and organisational effectiveness, compensation, benefits and global mobility, wellbeing, leave and absence, inclusion and diversity awareness, employee relations matters, career development, HR programme rollout and delivery, workforce planning, succession, regional best‑practice sharing and continuous improvement.
* Coordinate activities to support People Managers and affected colleagues during restructuring activities, planning and executing consultations about changes affecting roles or terms of employment.
* Ensure that regulatory and statutory obligations are discharged locally, including works council accountabilities and statutory and/or regulatory reporting requirements. When the HR Manager is the only HR professional in‑country, they will be responsible for ensuring that local statutory and/or regulatory requirements relating to employment are met and highlight issues that may require input from experts such as legal advisors.
* Work with People Partners and Centers of Expertise to determine best practices, continuously improve delivery methods, and take into account regional or country‑specific nuances to guide local implementation.
* Support peers and less experienced HR Managers as required to ensure that the team delivers a consistent and high‑quality service across all locations for which it is responsible.
* Identify opportunities to improve the service provided by People Services and demonstrate a willingness and aptitude to lead work to define and implement changes that will deliver a better service to People Managers.
What you need to have:
* Relevant experience in HR within a large professional services or financial services company.
* Demonstrated ability to coach People Managers at most levels effectively through all aspects of the employee life cycle, including complex situations.
* Experience supporting managers with employee relations case management, including investigations and administration of hearings.
* Experience successfully supporting project/initiative implementation across a population of managers recognising broader business objectives across multiple business lines or geographies.
* Thorough understanding of local laws, regulations and company policies, and familiarity with MMC’s internal and external formal processes (e.g. works councils, regulatory meetings and submissions).
* Ability to operate without supervision in most situations, judge when guidance is required and seek support from appropriate colleagues/experts.
* Demonstrated passion for regular self‑investment to maintain up‑to‑date professional knowledge and competence.
