Your workstyle will be an agile hybrid worker in this role which gives you the flexibility to work from home and from a variety of Council workplaces as well as the opportunity to carry out your work on any days and at any times.
About the role:
We are looking for a motivated, compassionate and forward‑thinking professional to join the West Glamorgan Shared Lives Service as a WGSL Development Officer.
Shared Lives is a unique, person‑centred service that supports adults to live with approved carers in ordinary family homes within their local communities. Our work changes lives – offering meaningful relationships, stability, and belonging – while supporting people to achieve the outcomes that matter most to them.
As a WGSL Development Officer, you will play a central role in growing and sustaining a high‑quality Shared Lives scheme across Neath Port Talbot and Swansea. You’ll lead on recruiting and assessing Shared Lives Carers, developing strong partnerships with councils and professionals, and ensuring individuals are safely matched with carers who can meet their needs.
“Shared Lives is about people, relationships and community – no two days are ever the same, and the positive impact is real and visible.”
About you
You’ll be someone who shares our values and is passionate about delivering high‑quality, relationship‑based support.
You will have:
1. Experience of supporting vulnerable adults, including those with learning or physical impairments
2. Experience working within or alongside a Shared Lives scheme
3. A sound understanding of social care legislation and safeguarding in Wales
4. Knowledge of the Social Services and Well‑being (Wales) Act 2014 and Adult Placement Services Regulations 2019
5. Strong communication, assessment and report‑writing skills
6. The ability to manage a varied workload and work collaboratively with partners
About us:
We believe in rewarding and recognising our colleagues’ efforts and achievements. We also believe that there’s life at work and life outside of work. We want everyone to be healthy and happy and have the financial resources and support they need.
Choose to work for us and you’ll be rewarded with a range of attractive benefits and support to help you live your best life.
7. Hybrid working (in some roles) and flexible working schemes to improve your work life balance
8. Benefit from a competitive employee package with a remarkable 15.3% employer pension contribution
9. Enjoy a holiday entitlement of 25 days, increasing to 32 days after 5 years’ service (not forgetting the additional 8 bank holidays too)
10. Access discounted gym membership with Celtic Leisure
11. Utilise the cycle to work scheme with up to 40% off bikes and cycling equipment
12. Purchase a new car through Tusker salary sacrifice scheme
13. Enjoy exclusive discounts at local and national retailers with the Smart Spend app through our staff wellbeing group.
