Main duties of the job
Patient administration underpins the patient journey and supports clinical teams in delivering high quality patient care and can make a real difference to the patient experience. Effective and efficient patient administration supports management through ensuring a high standard of data quality and by making the best use of capacity and resources.
The post holder will assist in providing a professional, comprehensive and efficient administrative service delivered to all patients and members of the Department. This will involve appointment scheduling in accordance with the Elective Access Policy, communicating appointment related information to patients and carers and supporting wider admin processes as appropriate.
Job responsibilities
We are seeking to appoint a full‑time assistant patient pathway administrator to join our friendly team within Ophthalmology. The post will be based at the John Radcliffe Hospital in the West Wing.
This post is crucial to the ongoing development of the Ophthalmology service and would suit a candidate who has excellent organisational and communication skills. You will liaise with staff and colleagues at all levels, demonstrate administration skills and the ability to prioritise and manage your own workload to tight deadlines, show initiative and flexibility in your approach and work effectively in a pressured and busy environment. The successful candidate will manage each patient’s pathway in a timely and efficient manner.
Knowledge of the Trust’s Electronic Patient Record System (EPR) and knowledge of elective access standards would be an advantage but training will be given.

Education/Qualifications
* Good general level of education (e.g. 5 GCSEs/BTEC grade C or above or equivalent) including Maths & English
* IT Qualifications/EPR Trained
Experience
* Working knowledge of MS Office
* Previous experience within the NHS/public sector

* Ability to prioritise effectively
