Cleaner Grade 1, £24,796 (Pro Rata) Permanent, Part Time- 14.75 hours per week (3.00pm-6pm-Mon-Thur, 3.00pm-5.45pm Fri) Required to start Monday 15th June 2026. Key duties and responsibilities: • To ensure all waste bins are emptied and refuse is removed and taken to designated disposal points to ensure the site is clean and tidy and meets with Health and Safety requirements • To clean all furniture and fittings including ledges, pipe work and radiators ensuring high standards of cleanliness and hygiene are met and maintained • To clean all sanitary fixtures and fittings including lavatories and wash room facilities, reporting any damaged or broken facilities to the Caretaker • To clean all areas of the schools including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, polishing, use of floor scrubbing machines when required, ensuring correct operating procedures are followed and H&S warning signs are used when required to ensure wellbeing of staff/children is maintained • To assist in the whole school clean during school closure as per the school cleaning programme • To check windows and doors are free from damage and closed after cleaning has been carried out to ensure the facilities are locked and secured appropriately • To monitor and manage supplies ie cleaning products, to ensure sufficient stocks are always available for use and health and hygiene standards are met and maintained • Undertake any additional cleaning duties as directed by the Caretaker • To maintain a flexible daily cleaning schedule of all internal areas of the school as requested • Perform duties in line with Health and Safety regulations and take action where hazards are identified, report serious hazards to Caretaker • To use the Durham County Council Cleaning Frequency Schedule as a guideline to achieving the required cleaning standards in school. Overtime/additional hours not applicable. Standard term time only pay is calculated on the basis of the following: • Number of ‘teaching’ weeks – 38 weeks; plus • Public (bank) holidays – 1.6 weeks (8 days); plus • Individual leave entitlement - 5.4 weeks (27 days) or 6.4 weeks (32 days) Individual leave entitlement is calculated on the length of continuous service. Employees with less than 5 years’ service will receive 27 days annual leave. Employees with more than 5 years’ service will receive 32 days annual leave.
