Dow Jones Newswires is seeking a new team member fluent in Arabic and English to join their growing team of linguists and be a key player in ensuring its accuracy while constantly monitoring the quality of our auto-translation model.
The successful candidate will assess and improve the translation from English to Arabic of Dow Jones Newswires financial, business, and economic news.
Our model is based on Modern Standard Arabic (no dialects). The job holder will be expected to demonstrate strong skills in prompt engineering and experience building glossaries to improve translation consistencies and outcomes.
This is a fixed term contract that requires some weekly onsite work in our London Bridge location.
You Will:
1. Be responsible for tasks related to R&D and QA for English-to-Arabic autotranslation, including:
Vetting the initial QA results done by our Data Strategy team
Spot checking autotranslated output on a daily basis
Implementing correction policy for Arabic products
Building and maintaining glossaries
Design, test, and iteratively refine prompts to continuously enhance the quality, accuracy, and style of our autotranslated financial news.
Regularly communicating and sharing ideas with global colleagues to enhance autotranslation quality and work efficiency
Interacting with different stakeholders (Product, Editorial, customers, and partners)
2. Map third-party content to enhance the Arabic language offering
3. Assist with translating pre-defined templates for generating automated content and other translation-related work that may be required by the business
You Have:
4. A native speaker level of MSA (C2).
5. A strong understanding of the Middle Eastern culture to ensure appropriateness and cultural compliance.
6. Demonstrable experience in LQA and Machine Translation Post-Editing (MTPE).
7. Strong experience using CAT tools - specially for building and implementing glossaries.
8. An excellent knowledge of financial & economic news & terminology in English and Arabic.
9. Experience with using machine translation and GenAI.
10. Preferably some experience in a financial-focused newsroom.
