Overview
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Geomatics Analyst to join a small team processing survey data to support the delivery of our National Elevation Data Programmes. You will use specialist software and GIS to process and quality control data from state-of-the-art Remote Sensing survey instrumentation including our Airborne LiDAR Terrain Mapper.
Responsibilities
* Process survey data to support the delivery of National Elevation Data Programmes.
* Use specialist software and GIS to process and quality control data from Remote Sensing instrumentation, including Airborne LiDAR Terrain Mapper.
* Contribute as part of the Geomatics team to collect and analyse high-quality LiDAR, Aerial Photography, Bathymetry & Satellite data.
* Communicate findings and produce clear GIS products for internal and external customers.
Experience / Qualifications
* A relevant degree-level qualification in Geography, GIS, Environment or another relevant scientific discipline, or equivalent experience with an understanding of operational applications.
* Practical experience and broad GIS skills using ESRI products such as ArcGIS Pro or ArcMap; experience with large and complex mapping datasets, preferably Airborne LiDAR.
* Experience processing and quality controlling LiDAR datasets and LiDAR-derived Digital Elevation Models would be advantageous.
* Experience in Remote Sensing techniques, analytical and problem-solving skills with good attention to detail.
* Good organisational skills, highly motivated, professional attitude, and ability to communicate effectively; able to work unsupervised at times to meet deadlines.
Role details
* Team: National Monitoring Survey (Geomatics team, national scope; location near EA offices).
* Travel: You may be required to travel to the Geomatics team hub base in Bath when required; occasional office presence to meet team needs.
* Working pattern: The post is full-time; other working patterns will be considered.
* Location: Based anywhere within working proximity to an Environment Agency office.
* Length of contract: 17 months – Up to March 2027.
Interviews
Interviews will be in-person at our Bath office and will consist of a technical GIS assessment and capability questions.
