Role purpose
The role is responsible for working with Aboriginal children and families, Government and sector partners to reduce the over representation of Aboriginal children in care.
Responsibilities
* As our Conferencing Convener, you will facilitate culturally safe, family-centered conferences that honor Aboriginal self-determination principles.
* The role is responsible for leading, guiding and supporting Youth and Family Support Workers, advocating for each child and young person.
* The Better Futures Worker will work with young people between the ages of 15–21 and are/were living in out of home care.
* The Learning and Development Worker will develop and deliver training programs and resources for program staff and users of the Mental Health and Well-Being Connect Centre.
* Therapeutic Residential Care Worker will engage with the children and young people to develop a nurturing, positive relationship and to assist each child to deal with their trauma-based responses to life in a way that promotes healing.
* The Better Futures Worker – Housing First will act as the key worker for the young person, being the main contact for the entire period of leaving care support.
Position details
The role is responsible for working with Aboriginal women and their children who are experiencing or escaping family violence in the Gippsland area. The role will hold a mixed caseload of children authorised to VACCA as well as undertake investigations into new child protection reports.
