Overview
We’re looking for a Shift Leader to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. You will work in a fast paced retail environment where no day is the same. You will take ownership of store activities by running duty shifts, coordinating a team to deliver a clean and full store that exceeds customer expectations. You will continually look for ways to improve service through on the job coaching and feedback, and you will understand store performance to deliver practical actions for improvement. With your guidance, the store will remain a safe place to work and shop.

Responsibilities
* Coordinate the team to deliver the easiest shopping trip in the community.
* Open/close the store and complete duty cover, ensuring decisions are right for customers, colleagues and safety.
* Be the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of the Store Manager for day-to-day operational queries.
* Support the Store Manager to coordinate seasonal, community and charity events, creating an inclusive atmosphere.
* Ensure the store is clean, tidy and well presented; prioritise replenishment of products that matter to customers.
* Ensure point of sale and shelf edge labels reflect what good looks like; take immediate action for any overcharges and prevent reoccurrence.
* Proactively manage queues to deliver a great shopping trip; coordinate colleagues to meet daily priorities and manage breaks around trade patterns.
* Be knowledgeable about the store and coordinate others to deliver practical actions to improve; follow health and safety routines and ensure colleagues comply.
* Deliver clear communication to the team and keep colleagues informed; look for ways to simplify operations and share ideas with the Store Manager.
* Put the customer first, resolve queries, and adapt service to meet individual needs; recognise colleagues for great service and identify obstacles to delivering great service.
* Resolve colleague queries in the Store Manager’s absence or escalate when appropriate; ensure appropriate staffing and cover shifts during short-term absences or sickness.
* Act as a recognised Keyholder, attending alarm calls where necessary to ensure store safety and security.
* Monitor and action internal communications, ensuring timely dissemination to all colleagues; coordinate with the Store Manager on issues with colleagues in the building during shifts.
* Balance time across service and replenishment areas; support the Store Manager in managing absence, conducting return-to-work interviews and reporting absence triggers as per One Stop policy.
* Build meaningful relationships with Area Manager and People Partner; escalate issues in a timely manner and engage in on-the-spot coaching opportunities.
