Main Purpose of the Role

Social Work Assistant - PKC13212
£29,565 - £32,451 (32 Hours per week)
Pullar House, Perth

A vacancy has arisen within the Early Intervention and Prevention Service for a Social Work Assistant in the Access Team; it is a permanent position working 32 hours per week. The team covers North and South Perthshire, as well as Perth City so you must be flexible and able to respond to service demand as required. Due to the nature of the work, a driving licence is essential.

The Early Intervention and Prevention Service provides a first point of contact for adults and carers who wish to access Social Work Services across Perth and Kinross.

We support adults age 16+ across all client groups. This work is supported by a range of partners including GP's and 3rd sector organisations.  

Our aim is to enable people to live more independently in their communities - providing care and support at the right time, in the right place, when it is most needed.

This team is currently part of a Health & Social Care Partnership redesign bring all services together to develop a first point of contact team for all services therefore the team location and remit may be subject to change.

The successful applicant will assist in maintaining vulnerable people in the community by providing a range of social care and care management tasks.  These include carrying out Outcome Focussed Assessments, the negotiation of flexible packages of care.

Skills & Experience Required

The ideal candidate will be motivated, engaging, possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Effective time management is essential for a successful autonomous worker to manage a complex caseload with the ability to be flexible and respond to crisis / competing demands being integral to the role.

You must have strong assessment skills and be able to demonstrate an understanding of SDS and how this is delivered.  The ability to integrate and cultivate successful links within the team and across services is highly desirable.  Knowledge of services, challenges, demands, and demographics within PKC would be an advantage. 

You must be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge and understanding of social work principles and values.

Knowledge of Adult Support and Protection, Adults with Incapacity legislation, along with an understanding of carers legislation would be desirable.

You will have a SVQ Level 3 in Social Services & Healthcare / Health & Social Care, or equivalent.

You must have a valid UK driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross.
