The location of the role is London (hybrid working).
The duration of the contract is 12 months.
The pay rate on offer is £1000 - £1200 per day (inside IR35).
The client is a multinational high-street retailer.
Role Summary
The Head of Data for the ERP Program is responsible for leading and delivering the data strategy across all phases of the ERP implementation. This role ensures the effective governance, cleansing, migration, security, and archiving of data. The incumbent will collaborate with business and technical teams to ensure data integrity, compliance, and alignment with organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Data Strategy & Leadership
* Define and execute the data strategy for the ERP program, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
* Provide strategic leadership on data management best practices, tools, and methodologies.
* Partner with senior stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
* Lead a team of data professionals, fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
2. Data Cleansing & Migration
* Oversee the development and execution of data cleansing plans to improve data quality.
* Design and manage the end-to-end data migration strategy, including extraction, transformation, loading (ETL), and validation processes.
* Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data transferred to the new ERP system.
* Collaborate with business units to identify and resolve data-related issues.
3. Data Governance
* Implement data policies, standards, and processes to ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational requirements.
* Monitor data quality and establish KPIs to track and report on data integrity across the ERP landscape.
4. Data Security & Compliance
* Ensure data security and privacy practices align with industry standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and internal policies.
* Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to ensure secure handling, storage, and transmission of data.
* Identify and mitigate data-related risks across the ERP program lifecycle.
5. Data Archiving & Retention
* Develop and implement data archiving strategies to manage legacy data and ensure compliance with retention policies.
* Oversee the identification and safe disposal of obsolete data, balancing regulatory requirements with operational needs.
* Ensure accessible storage and retrieval of archived data for auditing and business continuity.
Key skills and experience
* Proven experience leading data workstreams in large-scale ERP implementations (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
* Strong expertise in data migration, governance, cleansing, security, and archiving.
* In-depth knowledge of data management frameworks and regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR).
* Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
* Experience with data modelling, ETL processes, and data quality management.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage complex data landscapes.
* Data management certifications (e.g., DAMA, CDMP, TOGAF). (DESIRABLE)
* Experience with cloud-based ERP solutions and associated data challenges. (DESIRABLE)
* Understanding of emerging data technologies (e.g., AI-driven data quality, data lakes). (DESIRABLE)
