Monday to Thursday: 07:45 to 16:30
Friday: 07:45 to 12:15 (early finish)
The Company
We are recruiting for a Mechanical Fitter to join a well-established engineering business based in Cheshire. This is a family run organisation with a strong reputation, modern equipment, and a genuinely supportive working environment.
The Role
Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be part of a skilled engineering team responsible for the assembly, disassembly and testing of bespoke machinery.
This is a hands-on role involving the build of complex mechanical systems from engineering drawings, with occasional involvement in on site installations.
Key Responsibilities
* Assemble and build mechanical components and complex units from engineering drawings
* Align materials and fit parts to tight tolerances
* Select and modify components based on measurements and specifications
* Carry out mechanical fitting work including drilling, tapping and adjustments
* Operate overhead cranes and lifting equipment safely
* Support installations on customer sites when required, including occasional travel
About You
* Time served Mechanical Engineering qualification, Level 3 or equivalent
* Strong background in mechanical fitting, not just basic assembly
* Experience working with tolerances, measurements and component adjustments
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
* Hands on bench experience including drilling, tapping, lathes and milling
* Knowledge of measuring equipment and fitting processes
* Strong attention to detail and quality standards
* Team player with a proactive approach
* Good understanding of health and safety practices
Desirable
* Experience with pneumatics
* Flexibility to support occasional installations, including potential international travel
