Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team in Wigan, United Kingdom. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to individuals, enabling them to maintain their independence and quality of life.
Shift Patterns will be consist of Mornings 07:00am-14:15pm and Lates 16:00pm-22:00pm with a requirement of 1 late shift per week.
Responsibilities
* Assist service users with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, and grooming
* Support with medication management, ensuring prescribed medicines are taken correctly and on time
* Help with meal preparation and feeding when necessary
* Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe living environment
* Provide companionship and emotional support to service users
* Assist with mobility and transfers, using appropriate equipment when required
* Monitor and report any changes in service users' health or wellbeing to the care coordinator
* Maintain accurate records of care provided and any incidents or concerns
* Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and family members to ensure comprehensive care
* Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies
* Provide domestic support around the home as needed
* Participate in regular training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge
* A requirement of working alternative weekends.
* Working across the Wigan and surrounding areas.
Qualifications
* Strong interpersonal skills with a caring and empathetic approach
* Excellent time management and organisational abilities
* Basic healthcare knowledge and understanding of person-centred care
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Physical stamina to perform care tasks and assist with mobility
* Previous experience in domiciliary care or a similar role is preferred
* NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification is desirable
* First Aid certification is advantageous
* Understanding of safeguarding procedures and commitment to protecting vulnerable adults
* Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
* Valid driving licence and access to own vehicle may be required
* Compassionate and patient demeanour
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
* Basic IT skills for accurate record-keeping
* Enthusiasm for making a positive difference in people's lives
