An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Design Engineer to join the A220 Wing Engineering team at Belfast.
We are a highly motivated team of Engineers focused on constantly challenging the current design and conventional thinking to maximise profitability whilst ensuring quality.
Do you like connecting with people and different organisations? Are you interested in developing wing structures? Our team of Structural Engineers is passionate about finding technical solutions to support the structures department. We are a mix of people who can help you develop technically and personally in the role.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM
* Support the development of design engineers within the team and ensure development opportunities are pursued.
* Manage sub-contract work with Offload suppliers, requiring good influencing skills and technical quality of design work.
* Ensure structural design meets programme, airworthiness, and product requirements in line with Design Quality Assurance Criteria.
* Define, deliver, and enable technical studies, trades, and investigations for technical solutions.
* Support change management through Mod opening, DFM release, and Stage 3 Closure of Mods on time, to cost, and quality.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve right-first-time delivery and manage risks.
* Provide design leadership and ownership of Lean Engineering improvements, including Right First Time and Lead Time Reduction.
* Sponsor development of new technologies, apply best practices, and capture lessons learned.
* Organize and govern design & maturity reviews per Airbus policies.
* Manage stakeholders and produce reports and presentations for senior management.
ABOUT YOU
* Ability to interpret and set strategy, and communicate effectively with the engineering community.
* Proven track record in leading design or project teams, achieving delivery to time, cost, and quality.
* Creative problem-solving, risk management, and innovative mindset.
* Interest in developing leadership and team capabilities.
* Decisiveness, accountability, and ability to influence stakeholders.
* Experience with design toolsets such as CATIA V5, Enovia, and PLM.
* Design Signatory certification is essential.
