GAP are recruiting a Maintenance Technician to join our established team in Blackburn. This is a great opportunity to join a growing business, working with one of the leading names in the UPVC Building Plastics sector.
You'll be tasked to maintain production machinery and associated systems including all electrical and mechanical elements of the machines.

The primary function of the Maintenance Technician is to support all on-site engineering activity including maintenance, repair, improvements, manufacturing support, and projects. You will also be involved with fault finding, repair, maintenance, and improvement of electrical, control, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
Responsibilities
* To repair and maintain site machinery and plant
* To ensure the site is maintained to a high level of reliability, at the lowest effective cost
* To track all faults, breakdowns, and necessary repairs
* Ensure all engineering activity is carried out in a safe and controlled manner, in compliance with all current legislation, and in line with current best practices
* To help develop and implement a planned maintenance system (both planned and preventative on key equipment)
* To undertake continuous improvement projects to raise equipment performance, and standards, eliminate breakdowns, and improve performance, quality and safety
Skills and Experience
* Time served, multi-skilled with strong electrical fault-finding techniques
* Knowledge of control systems and, ideally, plc programming
* Good PC and communication skills
* Experience in a manufacturing/similar environment
* Ability to work rotating 3 shifts and flexibility of hours
* Able to work unsupervised and also within a team
Desirable criteria
* Qualifications: City and Guilds, ONC or above
* Experience of working in a lean manufacturing environment
* Able to develop prioritised improvement plans
