An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Neonatal Unit at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust as a Ward Clerk. You will provide essential administrative and clerical support to our neonatal team, ensuring the smooth and efficient running of daily operations.
In this role you will maintain accurate patient records, manage admissions, discharges and transfers, liaise with multiple departments, and support families and staff in a compassionate, professional setting.
You will play a key part in delivering the high standards of care the Trust is known for, enabling our neonatal unit to function effectively and safely.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will maintain daily bed statements and patient activity through the Trust’s patient information systems (such as Lorenzo, K2, Badgernet and Mediviewer), along with admission/discharge/transfer records.
Perform manual audit checks to ensure data accuracy and liaise with medical secretaries and other administrative colleagues as required.
Maintain and update the neonatal computerised patient system, supporting the team with accurate records.
Support the transfer of infants to neonatal outreach services by preparing relevant discharge information under clinical guidance.
Monitor the arrival of visitors and regulate entry into secured areas within the unit, maintaining departmental security.
Ensure medical records movement and appropriate filing; prepare infant case notes for neonatal clinics and manage outpatient appointment arrangements for discharged infants from the Neonatal or Maternity Units.
