Overview
First Military Recruitment is currently seeking a Maintenance Engineer on behalf of one of our clients. We encourage applications from ex-military personnel; however, all candidates will be given due consideration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Ensure zero RIDDOR accidents by promoting a health and safety culture to create a safe working environment.
2. Review systems of work within the team to ensure safest procedures are in place.
3. Attend weekly health and safety meetings with the Engineering Team and report findings to the Health and Safety Manager.
4. Investigate H&S accidents/incidents and implement actions to prevent recurrence.
5. Maintain risk assessments, manual handling assessments, and COSHH assessments, reviewing them annually or upon changes.
6. Conduct health, safety, and environment audits and address any failings.
7. Encourage team members to raise and address hazards and near misses.
8. Follow all safety requirements when working on machinery.
9. Ensure the safety of all team members during work activities.
10. Develop personal and team skills to promote flexible working practices.
11. Mentor new starters and integrate them into the team promptly.
12. Work with Production Teams on machine setup, changeovers, and basic maintenance.
13. Contribute to achieving quality and food safety standards through compliance and adherence to systems.
14. Promote and maintain first-time-right (FTR) repairs and maintenance.
15. Implement hygiene and cleaning procedures for all plant and equipment.
16. Conduct monthly self-audits to ensure documentation compliance and traceability of maintenance repairs.
17. Perform root cause analysis on equipment failures and report findings with corrective actions.
18. Follow hygiene and environmental standards when working on machinery.
19. Work collaboratively to deliver weekly workloads.
20. Ensure colleagues have skills and knowledge for effective equipment maintenance.
21. Investigate ongoing equipment issues and trends.
22. Champion continuous improvement (CI) techniques to resolve workflow issues.
23. Manage engineering activities within budget and use data to reduce downtime costs.
24. Monitor and minimize wastage and material usage.
25. Liaise with the Engineering Stores Administrator for parts procurement and critical spares management.
26. Coordinate with Engineering Manager and Head of Packaging on machinery installation and downtime planning.
27. Work professionally, complying with relevant management system documentation and standards, including ISO9001, BRC, ISO 14001, and legal requirements.
28. Undertake training to enhance skills as needed.
29. Perform any other duties within capabilities.
30. Uphold brand integrity through actions, communication, and deliverables.
