Job summary

Job title: Assistant Management Accountant

Responsible to: Finance Manager

Location: Sunderland GP Alliance Head Office, North East BIC

Salary: £34,1800.00 per annum

Contract Type: 12 month Fixed Term

Hours: Full time, 37.5

Main duties of the job

The assistant accountantwill provide support to the management accountants in the provision of timelyand accurate financial information to all business stakeholders to allowinformed decision making and to provide assurance throughout the organisation.

To assist in ensuringrobust financial controls and processes are implemented and adhered totherefore ensuring compliance and management of business risk.

Ensure with the supportof the accountants and finance manager compliance with statutory andcontractual requirements.

To support the businessas part of the finance team to provide financial guidance and information toall managers and business areas.

Providefinancial support and guidance in relation to financial requirements of PCNs.

Job responsibilities

Management Accounts

* Day to day maintenance offinance system verifying accuracy of coding and project costing
* Verifying accuracy and postingjournals as required
* Calculation and posting ofIncome and Expenditure accruals and prepayments
* Preparation of quarterlyBalance Sheet Reconciliations and P & L analysis
* Preparation of Incomereconciliation and analysis
* Revenue Recognition in linewith recognised accounting standards
* Assist in preparation ofquarterly management accounts
Budget and Forecast Process
* Providing support to theaccountants in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts
Procurement
* Working with business managersto identify and explore sustainable cost savings for all business areas.
* Periodic review of businesssuppliers and recommendation for alternative or renewal of contract for supply
NHS Pension
* Accurately account for andreconcile NHS pension contributions for all business schemes.
Property Costs
* Verify costs andreimbursements in line with contractual agreements for all business properties
Financial Modelling
* Prepare reports to accuratelyassess financial performance of partly completed projects
Other
* Provide support, training andmentorship to finance assistants as required.
* Support financialtransactional processes in the absence of finance assistants
* Provide support indevelopment, documentation and implementation of robust financial processes andpolicies

Training & Development
* Fully participates in trainingand development, meeting any, and all, requirements of any courses funded, orpart-funded by the Alliance;
* Engages in a programme ofongoing support and feedback to maximise the benefit of the training anddevelopment plan;
