Overview
Static Multiskilled Mechanical Engineer role at EQUANS UK & Ireland on behalf of the HMCTS contract in Bradford. This is a permanent full-time position, 40 hours per week. Competitive salary and benefits package.

General overview
The primary purpose of the role is to carry out both planned and reactive maintenance on a wide variety of Mechanical and Electrical Building Services Engineering plant, ensuring all activities are completed safely, on time and in accordance with contracted output specifications and EQUANS processes. This includes Legionella control and monitoring activities. Basic plumbing skills are part of the role.
Responsibilities
* Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on mechanical and electrical plant in accordance with site task schedules and CAFM.
* Complete reactive tasks promptly; identify and highlight areas for improvement.
* Rectify plant faults and defects to keep equipment in serviceable order.
* Maintain suitable spares; provide parts lists and estimated timescales for remedial works.
* Complete relevant paperwork/CAFM entries for PPM, reactive and breakdown works and pass to the contract administrator without delay.
* Prepare and use Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all tasks to ensure safe working practices.
* Develop good working relationships with EQUANS staff, subcontractors and client representatives.
* Provide a Safe and Healthy working environment; wear uniform and PPE at all times; present a professional image of EQUANS.
* Keep up-to-date plant logs and maintain tidy plant rooms under EQUANS responsibility.
* Arrange holiday and sickness cover at short notice; be flexible in working patterns; undertake lone working where required after training.
* Ensure tasks are actioned and completed; be aware of contractual KPI/SLA compliance; operate CAFM (e.g., Maximo) to keep data up to date and close tickets accurately.
* Operate a Permit to Work System in line with EQUANS SHEQ processes and client requirements (or approved client system).
* Provide engineering support in emergency situations to ensure business continuity.
Client / Customer
* Respond promptly to verbal and written requests; coordinate quotations with the contract manager; produce information for quotations.
Helpdesk - PPM
* Support Helpdesk as required for planning and updating maintenance; be available for out-of-hours call-out where required.
Compliance
* Gain technical appointments as required (e.g., LVCP/LVAP/Mechanical/Pressure CP); produce Condition/Dilapidation Reports as required; inform supervisor immediately if dangerous circumstances occur.
SHEQ
* Comply with SHEQ information requests; follow health and safety policy; ensure PPE is safe; report accidents and near-misses promptly; ensure test equipment is calibrated; follow Method Statements & Risk Assessments for all works.
Impact
* Perform Mechanical Engineering tasks; support adherence to company quality standards; ensure work aligns with specifications and schedules; maintain tools and vehicle and keep work areas clean and tidy; coordinate materials; complete site documentation accurately.
* Collaborate with others to provide courteous service and support subcontractors in line with H&S requirements.
Complexity
* Fault finding, minor repairs and installation alongside general maintenance; manage specialist subcontractor visits; support regional engineers; participate in wider FM maintenance activities as needed; prepare reports and SLAs; work safely and report safety concerns; communicate effectively at all levels; assist Helpdesk with mobile tools; risk assess jobs on-site; follow safety policies and PPE requirements.
Qualifications or Required Experience
* Desirable circa 5 years of relevant experience as a Mechanical Engineer within an FM environment.
* City and Guilds - Mechanical Engineering Services NVQ Level 2 or higher.
* Excellent communication skills; proactive in achieving high standards; good IT and report writing skills.
* Ability to work under pressure while delivering services within time constraints; initiative and drive for continuous improvement; strong customer-focused communication.
* Ability to understand and act on verbal and written instructions; willing to participate in internal training; integrity, honesty and punctuality; valid UK driving license.
* Current and valid full and clean UK driving license.
