Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activity Assistant to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in our assisted living and nursing home facilities. The ideal candidate will have a passion for enhancing the quality of life for seniors, particularly those living with dementia or Alzheimer's. This role is vital in fostering a vibrant community atmosphere and ensuring that all residents feel valued and included.
Hours of Work
8am to 4 pm 4 days per week including every other weekend
Duties
* Plan, organise, and implement a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
* Assist residents in participating in activities, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout.
* Collaborate with nursing staff to monitor residents' physical and emotional well-being during activities.
* Maintain accurate records of participation and feedback from residents to improve future programming.
* Engage with residents on a personal level, providing companionship and support during activities.
* Adapt activities as necessary to accommodate residents with varying levels of mobility or cognitive function.
* Facilitate group discussions and encourage social interaction among residents to promote community spirit.
Skills
* Previous experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or senior care settings is highly desirable.
* Knowledge of dementia care practices and experience working with individuals with Alzheimer's is an asset.
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff members.
* Ability to demonstrate empathy, patience, and understanding when working with seniors.
* Experience in caregiving or care home environments will be beneficial.
* Creativity in developing engaging activities that cater to diverse interests among residents.

Pay: £13.00-£13.50 per hour
