We are looking for
a highly motivated and experienced Senior Theatre Practitioner to take on a leadership role within our Orthopaedic Scrub Team, joining our friendly and supportive Theatres team at Weston General Hospital.
This is a 12-month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.
This post is suitable for an Operating Department Practitioner or Registered Nurse with significant theatre experience. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled and experienced in orthopaedic scrub practice, with the confidence and capability to provide day-to-day leadership, support and clinical expertise within the orthopaedic service.
Weston Theatres is a small, friendly unit with a strong passion for delivering the highest standards of patient care.
We provide services across a wide range of specialities including orthopaedics and trauma, general and colorectal surgery, breast surgery, urology, and gynaecology.
The department also includes a small but busy recovery unit, and staff may be required to support this area during the week and at weekends. There is an expectation to work flexibly across the department as required to support service delivery.
The post holder will be expected to work a varied shift pattern, including weekends, and to participate in the on-call rota.
To work according to the Nursing and Midwifery Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines to provide a high standard of patient care using a flexible patient centred care approach.
To provide an expert level of professional practice within Theatres, and to be responsible for the management of a theatre nursing team, providing advice, information and support.
To actively support the sister/charge nurse, assisting in the safe, effective and efficient management of the department and deputising in their absence.
