About the Role
We are looking for a Scrub Practitioner to join our team. You will ensure the patient’s treatment is of the highest standard and support the perioperative team to provide high quality care quickly, in clean and comfortable surroundings. This full‑time position requires 37.5 hours per week, with shifts worked over four days between Monday and Saturday from 7 am to 5 pm.
Responsibilities
* Demonstrate a sound understanding of scrub and circulating roles and the responsibilities within those roles.
* Be competent in all aspects of scrub/circulating technique and procedures.
* Be responsible for the cleaning and disinfection of the theatre and equipment between patients and at the end of each case.
* Participate in all safety procedures, including briefings, the WHO safer surgery checklist, swab and needle counts, and management of clinical specimens.
* Work as a skilled member of the perioperative team and be responsible for the assessment of care given to patients in the operating theatre and other areas where operative or invasive procedures are performed.
* Run theatre lists efficiently and competently, following policies and procedures.
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner who can demonstrate the following:
* Effective communication skills, verbal and written, including report writing and record keeping.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with patients and the multidisciplinary team.
* Ability to undertake on‑calls to meet the needs of the service.
* Contribution to team development.
* Sound knowledge of the NMC/HCPC code of professional conduct and current perioperative issues.
* Excellent organisational skills, proven ability to problem‑solve and remain calm under pressure.
* Effective computer/IT skills and a commitment to develop these in line with the needs of the service.
