The Spectacles team is pushing the boundaries of technology to bring people closer together in the real world. Our fifth-generation Spectacles, powered by Snap OS, showcase how standalone, see-through AR glasses make playing, learning, and working better together.
We’re looking for a Design & Verification Engineer to join the Mechanical Design Team at Snap Inc!
What you’ll do:
1. As part of the Mechanical Design team you will work directly with engineers, suppliers and CM’s to ensure components and sub-assemblies are designed & manufactured to specification.
2. Design components, assemblies, jigs and fixtures relating to optical engines used in AR glasses
3. Own the relationship between design teams, suppliers and CM’s to ensure they have the capability and processes to meet part & assembly technical specifications. This will include international travel to Suppliers & CM’s sites included in Snap’s global supply chain in Europe and Asia.
4. Work closely with other Spectacles teams to gather relevant information and share your knowledge about the parts & assemblies to further improve requirements and specifications, providing vital feedback from the suppliers and CM’s
5. Bridge the gap between Mechanical Design, Global Supply Chain and Quality to ensure parts can be manufactured, measured and delivered to Snap’s specifications and requirements.
6. Work directly with suppliers and our CM’s to assess, monitor and improve Measurement SOP’s, Manufacturing SOP’s and general engineering competencies
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
7. CAD experience ideally SolidWorks or NX, ideally on consumer electronics or opto-mechanical products or assemblies
8. Considerable expertise in Metrology (using CMM’s), metrology process improvement and the technical requirements of measurements systems.
9. An expert in ASME & ISO drawings, GD&T, FAI & SPC dimensioning and process control
10. Appreciation of consumer goods component manufacturing methods such as injection molding, machining, including optical components for high volume manufacturing
11. Experience producing and manipulating measurement data sets and presenting to peers and management
12. Strong background in Mechanical engineering
Minimum Qualifications:
13. Degree in relevant engineering or scientific subject
14. 5 years of Mechanical Design experience in a relevant industry
15. Qualification and/or significant experience in dimensional Metrology / Six Sigma / Process improvement
Preferred Qualifications/experience:
16. Recognised Metrology Certification / Qualification / CMM Programming
17. Six Sigma certification
We offer a competitive salary range £70,000 - £88,000 which is commensurate with your qualifications and experience and the level of this role.
