A leading international law firm in Birmingham is offering an exceptional opportunity for a Senior Associate to join its Banking and Finance team on a permanent basis, with the position based in either the Birmingham or London office.

The Banking & Finance team advises on a wide range of UK and international mid-market financing transactions. Its work spans sectors such as renewable energy, infrastructure, mining, housing, financial services, private equity, technology, healthcare, retail, and aerospace. The team frequently handles transactions involving acquisition finance, corporate lending, asset and receivables finance, project finance, derivatives, and debt capital markets.

As part of a global, sector-focused law firm, the team delivers a fully integrated advisory service, working closely with colleagues across various practice areas and jurisdictions to provide seamless, commercial solutions. It also partners with top-tier restructuring and insolvency and pensions teams, offering exposure to both performing and distressed lending.

Comprising 20+ lawyers across their UK offices, the team is recognised for its pragmatic, partner-led approach and is described as providing top quality service with a personal touch. The team is renowned for its market insight, responsiveness, and strong commitment to excellence.

This role is a non-contentious general banking opportunity. The Senior Associate will report directly to the Banking & Finance Partners and serve as a key member of this collaborative and close-knit group.

Responsibilities include:

* Advising banks, borrowers, and private equity houses on mid-market and investment-grade banking transactions (syndicated and bilateral).
* Drafting and negotiating senior and mezzanine loan facility agreements, security documents, intercreditor agreements, and related documentation.
* Advising on leveraged acquisition finance and corporate lending transactions for both lenders and borrowers.
* Managing cross-border transactions, including coordination with international legal counsel and negotiation of legal opinions.
* Providing advice on general banking matters, working closely with other departments such as corporate, pensions, and construction.

The successful candidate will:

* Be a UK qualified lawyer with 5-8 years' PQE in banking and finance.
* Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and act as a confident ambassador for the firm.
* Demonstrate a clear understanding of the commercial issues in finance transactions, with the ability to manage high-value deals with minimal supervision.
* Be proactive, collaborative, and detail-oriented, committed to delivering the highest quality solutions.
* Inspire confidence in clients, colleagues, and partners.
* Have a strong focus on business development, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with existing and prospective clients.
