Overview
South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Fitness Assistant to join our team at Hamilton Water Palace. The successful applicant will support our customers on their fitness journey, building rapport quickly to engage and educate them on the latest fitness trends and support them through their training as well as ensuring that the gym is kept clean and tidy.

Hours & Shift Pattern
32.5 hours per week, fixed 6‑week shift pattern:
* Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 2 pm – 9 pm; Saturday, Sunday 8 am – 3 pm
* Week 2 & 6: Monday – Friday 7 am – 2 pm
* Week 3 & 5: Monday – Friday 2 pm – 9 pm
* Week 4: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 7 am – 2 pm; Saturday, Sunday 8 am – 3 pm
Salary
£13.79 – £13.90 per hour
Duration
Fixed term until 30 September 2026
Responsibilities
Support customers on their fitness journey, engage and educate them on the latest fitness trends, support them through training, and ensure the gym is kept clean and tidy.
Qualifications and Experience
* Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification or equivalent.
* Relevant HNC or equivalent.
* Excellent interaction skills.
* Experience working in a gym environment is an advantage but not essential; full training will be given.

Foreign Police Check
Candidates should be able to detail any gaps in employment and provide a foreign police check where applicable if you have lived or worked for 3 months or more consecutively abroad in the last 10 years.
