Founded by Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex in 2014, the Invictus Games uses adaptive sport to support the recovery of Wounded, Injured, and Sick (WIS) service personnel and veterans.
Birmingham 2027 will bring together 550 competitors from over 25 nations across 12 sports, including Archery, Athletics, Cycling, Esports, Indoor Rowing, Laser Run, Pickleball, Powerlifting, Sitting Volleyball, Swimming, Wheelchair Basketball, and Wheelchair Rugby.

Birmingham sits at the heart of this story, from life-saving care at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham to rehabilitation at the Defence and National Rehabilitation Centre and support at Fisher House, with many competitors returning to the place that supported them.
The role
We are looking to appoint an experienced and people-orientated individual to lead the delivery of the Family & Friends element of the 2027 Invictus Games. This unique role is an essential part of what makes the Invictus Games so impactful; ensuring that the family & friends of the competitors taking part have the most beneficial experience possible.
Approximately 1500 family & friends, coming from 25 diverse nations, play a vital role in the rehabilitation journey of their competitors and ensuring they have a truly memorable and positive experience during the games is a key deliverable. The Games Services Manager (Family & Friends lead) will be responsible for all aspects of planning and delivering their Games Time programme which will include a wide range of off- and on-site activities and experiences designed to enhance their games time experience and enjoyment.
This is a full time, fixed term role to 31 July 2027.
The salary for this position is £50,000 per annum.
Based in our Birmingham office you will work in close collaboration with the Participating Nations Lead, the Operations team and wider Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 team.

Given the short-term nature of this project, we are seeking candidates who can commence work in the near future. Unfortunately, it will be challenging to accommodate individuals with lengthy notice periods, as prompt availability is essential for the timely commencement and completion of the project.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
•To manage IG27’s involvement with the family and friends of all participating nations
•To be responsible for the design and delivery of a programme of activities and experiences that will result in a positive Invictus experience for all 1500 family and friends
•To help enable the arrival and departure of all nation’s family and friends
•To assist in the planning of accommodation, catering, accreditation and wider operational areas in relation to the family and friends, across all competition veneus and hotel sites
•To lead on producing the family and friends guide
•To support the production of a Games Time programme of activity for all client groups within the Participating Nations
•To lead the team including volunteers at Games Time to deliver the programme
•To assist with any other Operations owned workstreams as needed
Key Relationships
•To work with the IG27 Participating Nation’s Liaison to deliver all aspects of the family and friends provision.
•To develop and maintain excellent working relationships with each Nation’s family and friends lead and staff.
•To develop a network of external stakeholders who will support the family and friends programme with a particular focus on West Midlands based attractions and activities.
•To work with IG27 staff and wider partners to build and maintain support for the successful delivery of the family and friends programme.
